I’m a professional screenwriter and part of the WGAW (Writers Guild of America West). I’ve optioned a number of scripts and have a produced a short, a documentary and a movie on the Hallmark Channel.
I’ve also been teaching screenwriting and freelance writing since 1997. I taught screenwriting at the University of Washington through 2017 and in 2014 received the University of Washington’s Teacher Excellence Award! In 2018 I began teaching comedy writing for TheFilmSchool in Seattle.
I spent a lot of time on my screenplay and it won at the Harlem film festival! Thank for all your guidance and leadership.
I just learned my scripts “Tin Soldier,” “Killing Zoe” (aka “Killing Meryl Streep”), and “Mad Meadows” have all been named quarter-finalists in the Scriptapalooza screenwriting competition.
Thanks for teaching me this art form.
Thanks for everything. This has definitely been my favorite class at a university ever.
Thank you for everything this year. Your class has really changed my life and my perspective on screen writing. I just found a spot to live in LA and will be moving there mid June to hopefully work in development as continue to write.

I want to thank you so much for your wonderful instruction, encouragement and direction. I couldn’t have done this without you.
Many blessings to you,
A million thanks to you for a terrific class, for sharing your knowledge and experience so generously! I feel that I have learned a whole lot! Beyond words. Your notes were a tremendous help, and most of my changes are based on them.
See you soon,
The UW screen writing class has been invaluable to me. Diane brings her experiences in the business, knowledge, and support to class every week. But its her humor that captures students attention and allows them to learn.
